DappRadar Reports Web3 Gaming Surge as SeiNetwork and Aptos Lead Blockchain Activity
DappRadarās latest analysis reveals a dynamic period for Web3 gaming and blockchain applications, marked by robust user engagement and shifting market trends despite ongoing investment challenges.
SeiNetwork emerged as a standout performer, climbing to second place among EVM-compatible blockchains with an impressive 8.1 million active walletsārepresenting a 74% increase over the previous period. The network now hosts 43 games, 13 of which each attract more than 50,000 weekly users, with titles like Hot Spring and Archer Hunter driving much of this growth. Aptos also recorded a 22% rise in unique active wallets, further solidifying its position among the fastest-growing blockchain ecosystems.
Matchain secured the top spot in DappRadarās rankings, propelled by rapid ecosystem expansion. Meanwhile, Stellar-based decentralized applications reached an all-time high, surpassing 4,500 unique active wallets in a single day, led by projects such as KALE and Aquarius.
Web3 gaming continues to dominate decentralized application (dapp) activity, with daily unique active wallets reaching 4.9 million in May 2025. However, the sectorās overall market share slipped to 19.4%, down from 21% in April, as emerging categories like DeFi, SocialFi, and AI-powered dapps gain traction. Despite this, user engagement remains strong, particularly for games like Pixudi and Zip Clash. Pixudi, for example, saw a 48% surge, recording nearly 1.3 million unique active wallets in one week.
The investment landscape, however, paints a more cautious picture. Web3 gaming funding fell to a record low of $9 million in May 2025, a significant drop from the $220 million monthly average seen in late 2024. This funding contraction has led to a wave of project shutdowns, with several high-profile titles ceasing operations due to unsustainable business models and development challenges.
Despite these headwinds, traditional gaming publishers such as Sega, Nexon, and Sony remain committed to blockchain-connected projects. Nexonās launch of MapleStory Universe with on-chain integrations and Sonyās continued development of its Layer-2 protocol Soneium signal long-term confidence in Web3 infrastructure.
Looking ahead, June 2025 promises a busy launch calendar, with anticipated releases including FIFA Rivals on Mythical Chain, Tokyo Beastās $1 million tournament roadmap, and new expansions for titles like EVE Frontier and Gods Unchained. These developments underscore the growing adoption of decentralized applications across both gaming and blockchain networks, even as the industry navigates a period of recalibration and renewed focus on sustainable growth.
