Leeds United Confirms Junior Firpo's Departure After Four-Year Spell, Defender Set to Join Real Betis

Leeds United has officially announced the departure of left-back Junior Firpo, who leaves the club as a free agent following the expiration of his contract. The 28-year-old, who arrived at Elland Road from Barcelona in the summer of 2021, made 119 appearances for the Whites over four seasons, contributing significantly both on and off the pitch.

Firpo played a pivotal role in Leeds' recent success, featuring in 35 matches during the 2024/25 campaign as the club secured the Championship title and promotion back to the Premier League. His attacking contributions included 10 assists and four goals last season, with a memorable strike at Bramall Lane and a final goal during the decisive 6-0 victory over Stoke City that sealed promotion. Defensively, Firpo was part of a backline that kept 25 clean sheets in the title-winning season.
