According to court documents, the incident began when Funke knocked a Knicks cap off one fan’s head and challenged the group to a fight. After being escorted out by his father and initially leaving the premises, Funke reportedly returned to the patio area, where the confrontation escalated. One Knicks fan briefly displayed a pocket knife but put it away, stating he had no intention of using it. Funke then allegedly pulled his own knife and stabbed one fan in the back, while the second fan sustained a leg injury during the scuffle.

Both victims were transported to a local hospital with injuries, and Funke was apprehended by police in the parking lot. Witnesses described Funke as the primary aggressor, and he now faces charges including battery by means of a deadly weapon, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, and criminal recklessness. The incident has intensified the atmosphere surrounding the series, which has long been known for its fierce rivalry.
