TYT 2025 Exam Concludes with Record Participation Across Turkey
The first session of the 2025 Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), known as the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT), concluded today, marking a record turnout with 2.56 million candidates participating nationwide. The TYT is a crucial step for university admissions in Turkey, assessing studentsâ proficiency in Turkish language, social sciences, mathematics, and natural sciences through 120 questions to be answered in 135 minutes.
This yearâs exam generated significant discussion among students, particularly over a philosophy question centered on the concept of "doubt," which many found especially challenging. The TYT is designed to measure candidatesâ skills in reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, mathematical problem-solving, and cognitive competencies in fields such as geography, history, and ethics.
Strict exam regulations were highlighted after reports emerged of a candidate missing the test due to difficulties removing jewelry before entering the examination hall, underscoring the importance of compliance with entry requirements.
The YKS marathon will continue with upcoming sessions, including the Field Qualification Test (AYT) and Foreign Language Test (YDT), as students across Turkey now await their results. These results will play a decisive role in shaping the academic futures and university prospects of millions of young people.
