Emma Raducanu’s Stellar Grass Court Run and US Open Mixed Doubles Partnership with Alcaraz Ignite Global Buzz

Emma Raducanu, the 22-year-old British tennis sensation, has captured the spotlight with an impressive start to the 2025 grass court season and a headline-grabbing mixed doubles partnership with Carlos Alcaraz for the upcoming US Open.

Raducanu began her grass campaign with a commanding performance at the HSBC Championships, where she dispatched Cristina Bucsa 6-1, 6-2 in her singles debut at The Queen’s Club, thrilling home fans with aggressive play and clinical serving. She continued her strong form by defeating Rebecca Sramkova to reach the quarter-finals, a result that also sees her reclaim the British number one ranking. However, her run ended in the last eight, falling to world number seven and Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng in straight sets after a spirited battle.

Despite this setback, Raducanu’s resurgence has been a talking point, especially after a period marked by injuries and inconsistent results. Her current ranking has surged back into the world’s top 40, and she is now a contender at every event she enters.

Raducanu was slated to compete at the Berlin Open but withdrew due to a back issue that has troubled her since before the French Open. She emphasized the need for careful management, stating, “I'm not overly concerned that it's something serious, but I know it's something that's very annoying and needs proper and careful management”. She remains optimistic about returning for the Lexus Eastbourne Open ahead of Wimbledon, where she aims to build on her recent momentum.

Adding to the excitement, Raducanu is set to partner with Carlos Alcaraz, the reigning Roland-Garros and Wimbledon champion, in the newly formatted US Open Mixed Doubles Championship on August 19-20. The event features 16 teams, including some of the sport’s biggest names, and will use a fast-paced, best-of-three-sets format with no-ad scoring and a 10-point tiebreak in lieu of a third set. Alcaraz expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “The US Open came to us and gave us the opportunity to play mixed doubles and I'm super excited about it. It's going to be great”.

As Raducanu manages her recovery and prepares for a busy summer, her dynamic play and high-profile doubles partnership continue to draw global attention, reaffirming her status as one of tennis’s most compelling young stars.
