Corey Conners Withdraws from U.S. Open and Travelers Championship After Wrist Injury

Canadian golfer Corey Conners has withdrawn from both the final round of the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club and the upcoming Travelers Championship due to a right wrist injury sustained during play last week.

Conners, 33, first injured his wrist in the opening round of the U.S. Open on Thursday when his club struck a hidden television cable while playing from a bunker. Despite the setback, he managed to complete rounds of 72, 74, and 72, placing him within the top 15 heading into Sunday’s final round. However, the injury worsened after a difficult bunker shot on the 11th hole during Saturday’s round, prompting him to seek medical treatment and undergo imaging. Conners attempted to warm up on Sunday morning but ultimately withdrew just hours before his scheduled tee time alongside Ryan Fox.

This marks the first time in his PGA Tour career that Conners has withdrawn from a major tournament. He has had a strong season, making 14 cuts in 15 events and achieving five top-10 finishes, including a tie for eighth at the Masters and a third-place finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Entering the U.S. Open, he was ranked ninth in the FedEx Cup standings and is currently the highest-ranked Canadian golfer globally at No. 24.

The wrist injury continues to trouble Conners, as confirmed by his withdrawal from the Travelers Championship, the PGA Tour’s final signature event of the season, set to begin this week at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. He will be replaced in the field by Venezuela’s Jhonattan Vegas. The extent of Conners’ injury and its impact on his participation in future tournaments remains uncertain.
